Testing Methodology

Prototype testing is a critical step of the design process. Prototyping presents a strong visualization of the design to understand the look and feel. It also helps designers better comprehend their purpose for designing, what they are designing and whom they are designing for.

My design concept is to create an app. The proposed audience is young adults and essentially they would be the ones interacting with my design concept. Research methods I selected to help me through the primary research process included a mood board, personas and a user journey map.

Mood board

As a more visual person, a mood board provided a visual aid to help me convey my thoughts a lot better than words to support my ideas. Here I found plenty of inspiration for the overall layout and feel I would like this app to have. The typeface and color palette may be subject to change once I am further into the design process, but right now I think what matters first is the user interface and content. Mainly to make sure everything is user friendly first!

Personas

Developing personas with a scenario, pain points and their actions gave way to better understand a user with empathy. These pointed out some possible solutions as well as any frustrations a user may face in this design intervention.

User Journey Map

The user journey map allowed me to really start brainstorming the steps a potential user would take in order to navigate the app as well as how it personally affects them.

Prototype!

Since I am designing an app, it would be beneficial to conduct a usability test with individual users, in this case young adults. Ideally, I would love for them to experience the app and all the features. From creating a profile , taking the questionnaire (adoption application) to finding a match. Since this app includes other feature a part from just adopting, they could have the option explore within the app. The app is designed to be continued to be used even after pairing a young adult with a pet. So the longevity of this design intervention was taken in consideration.
